Stearic acid is a naturally occurring fatty acid in nature. It is present in almost all animal and plant oils. For example, its content in cocoa butter is up to 34%, in butter it is approximately 24%, and in palm oil it is about 6%. In industry, stearic acid is mainly produced from animal and plant oils (such as palm oil and butter) or hardened oils. Through hydrolysis (breaking down the oil into fatty acids and glycerol), it is separated to obtain a mixture of fatty acids, which are then purified by distillation or pressing to finally obtain high-purity stearic acid (with a content of typically ≥ 98%), while other fatty acids such as palmitic acid are also produced as by-products.

In the industrial field: Stearic acid is a widely used sulfurization activator in natural rubber, synthetic rubber (except butyl rubber), and latex. It can also be used as a plasticizer and softening agent.
In the daily cosmetics field: It is an important raw material for cosmetics such as body lotions, cold creams, foundation creams, shaving creams, body lotions, and skin care emulsions. It plays an emulsifying role in these products, turning them into stable and white pastes.
In the plastic industry field: In the plastic industry, stearic acid can enhance the thermal stability of plastics, giving them a certain lubricating effect and maintaining good light and heat stability.
